VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA | The Age newspaper | March 15, 2013 | Jehovah's Witnesses a 'cruel cult'
by jwleaks inthe age newspaper | fairfax media | friday, march 15, 2013. jehovah's witnesses a 'cruel cult'.
http://www.theage.com.au/national/jehovahs-witnesses-a-cruel-cult-20130315-2g5x3.html.
christian sect the jehovah's witnesses - with 64,000 active 'disciples' in australia - are a cruel religion with no soul, according to melbourne cultbuster raphael aron.. his warning comes as the federal government considers tightening the definition of a charity to prevent some cults and quasi-religions keeping their tax free status.

Watchtower Birthday Logic
by enigma1863 inthe watchtower bases their opposition to birthdays by two scriptures, saying something bad happened and god must have put it in there for a reason.
following their logic are there any other things jws shouldnt do because bad things happened in a couple of scriptures?.

What Gilead Taught ME
by AllTimeJeff inthey mean the leadership.
all of this is code for: one who is not ready to really study and accept how the leadership of jehovah's witnesses use the bible to their own self serving means.
but to be fair, jw's teach that most all of these characters refer to the leadership of jehovah's witnesses, the governing body.

Anyone done the Landmark Forum?
by avatar ini am scheduled to do it next month.. if you have completed the training:.
- what did you get out of it?.
- knowing what you know now (post completion) what would you tell others or have done differently to prepare?.
-

I've done the Landmark Forum and it was great. It undid all the years of JW brainwashing and gave me a whole new fresh perspective at life.
Like they tell you at the start of the forum, "None of it is true".It's just a series of discussions and realizations that help equip you with techniques that allow you to remove a lot of the mental blocks that prevent you from reaching and defining new goals.
I definitely recomend it.

I wouldn't say emotional. It's more about people's sense of self-worth and identity. When an idea comes along that challenges you as you percieve yourself some will react in hostile way.

Because when people create a strong association between their religious beliefs and their own identity, atheism invalidates who they are.

"suppose that a doctor told you to avoid contact with someone who is infected with a contagious, deadly disease," part of the article stated.. "you would know what the doctor means, and you would strictly heed his warning.
well, apostates are 'mentally diseased', and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings.".

This is an excellent example of the watchtower's mastery of deception and demonstrates why they are actually a cult.
Their amazing ability to portray a state of affairs to the outside world which is a long way off from reality within the organization is indicative of how entrenched this two-faced culture within the watchtower is.
It's actually the organization that decides to announce a member's change of status to "dis-fellowshiped" and not "a personal matter for each individual to decide for himself" which is an outright lie.
